Pastor’s Blog “It’s Time” October 21, 2018
“You can’t say that!” the crowd said in response to Jesus reading of the Messianic promise contained in Isaiah 61:1-2 and the bold proclamation of the year of the Lord’s favor.
“Yes I can and I just did!” replied Jesus as He announced He was the Messiah and he delivered His mandate.
This has bearing on us as Christ followers. Instead of asking WWJD (What would Jesus Do?) let’s rally around and “DWJD” (Do what Jesus Did).
It’s time. The time is now. For the universal church, for our local church, and for us as the church.
Like Jesus, we can claim we are anointed to spread the good news, the proclaim freedom for captives (the original Greek implies setting free prisoners of war), proclaim restoration of sight (seeing what Jesus is doing and what He wants to accomplish through us), and to announce “God is ready to give blessings to all who come to him” (LB).
The winter is past (no I am not confused that it is October). The Spring is here. Not in the physical sense but in the spiritual realm. Jesus said that He would pour out His Spirit in the last days (which I believe are upon us now).
What does it look like?
The Book of Acts: people came to faith, they were healed, they were comforted, they were Jesus’ hands and feet. They showed us what “the year of the Lord’s favor” should and can look like.
Will you join me in contending for and participating in the harvest as the Day of the Lord approaches?
