Pastor’s Blog September 9, 2018 Dream…Vision Sunday 2018
An invitation to see not what is but what could be.
Dreamers are often maligned…Look at Joseph…”There comes that dreamer. His dreams became reality not because he made them happened but because he was faithful and God rewarded his faithfulness with the fulfillment of the dream….humanly impossible but with God all things are possible.
Dream…the subject of pop songs and cultural traditions…”Dream On” screamed Steven Tyler…”Dream Catchers jumped from First Nations’ traditions to adorn homes and hang from rearview mirrors.
The stress and press of life too often pushes out even our desire to dream. It’s hard to dream when you are just surviving.
God invites us, His church to dream again. Dreams of the future. Dreams of what God wants to do in and through us. Dreams that require faith and vision.
God’s invitation to dream is not limited to one person or one local church. He invites us all to dream again.
And, one person’s dream unlocks another. When God is the source of the dream, it all fits together. “Without a progressive vision the people are unrestrained.” God will show us how we can cooperate to see dreams become reality while moving in lockstep toward His preferred future for us.
We celebrate human dreamers and their temporal accomplishments. Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, we can do it.”
Spiritual dreams becoming reality is very different. Dreams become reality as we hear from God, walk and obedience and faithfulness and trust God to make dreams come true.
And it doesn’t come from “wishing on a star.”
