Sunday October 1 If your presence goes not with us…

Pastor’s Blog “If your presence goes not with us…” October 1, 2017
The Presence of God. We sing about it. We talk about it. Do we understand it?
Today begins our next series. The topic? You probably guessed. The Presence of God.
Exodus 33:15 serves as the key scripture for today. “If your presence does not go with, let us not go up from here.”
God is omnipresent; everywhere present. He is always with us. That is His promise. “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
So why is it that we can goes days, weeks, months, even years and not feel (be aware of) the presence of God? God doesn’t lie so that means if we don’t feel His presence, the connection has been broken on our side. I know from experience.
The context of our key scripture records the context of a personal conversation between Moses and God. God revealed His commandments and covenant to Moses on Mount Sinai. While Moses was away, the people strayed. The consequences of their sin? God would send an angel to help them but He would not go with them into the Promised Land.
Moses interceded. “If your presence does not go with us, let us not go up from here.” God listened. “I will go with you.”
I need to know the presence of God. I need to live in the presence of God. I need to acknowledge the power of His presence. (By the way, bring your physical Bibles with you tomorrow. You won’t be sorry as you follow the story through the pages).
Join me on the journey…
Pastor Tom.
