Sunday March 18 Post Christian, Tragedy or Opportunity?

Pastor’s Blog “Post Christian….tragedy or Opportunity?”
Post….after…
The world has changed. The world continues to change. Rapidly.
Something in the human condition causes us to look back with nostalgia: to what we remember as “the good old days.” Somethings about the past were good. Sometimes we forget that even in the good times challenges presented themselves that were unsettling at best and unnerving at worst.
The question before us is this: what will our response be as followers of Jesus and as members of His body the church be in light of this shift over that last 100 years? Will we be paralyzed or will we engage the “new world order?”
Jesus came at one of those very unsettled times in human history. His presence and message transformed people who in turn transformed their world and culture by the power of the Holy Spirit. The same Jesus and the same Holy Spirit is at work today, right now, in our current circumstances. The message is still the same: one of hope and Good News for those who are perishing.
I have the honor of closing our series “Post Christian.” What does it mean for you, for me, for us? “So what…now what?”
The Bible records the promise that in the last days, God would pour out His Spirit on all flesh. We are living in the “last days” and have been since Jesus ascended. Instead of lamenting, let’s believe and act in a way that shows we believe that Jesus will build His church and that gates of hell will not prevail.
Let’s see opportunity not tragedy.
As will all things new, we will need new ways of doing and being. What worked once will work no longer.
God has a plan for 2018 and beyond until Jesus returns.
Our charge…go, tell, reach, teach and share the Good News to a world that desperately needs Good News.
Let’s partner with what Jesus is doing and let’s go change the world…one life at a time.
