Sunday July 30 Day Camp Celebration

Pastor’s Blog July 30, 2017 “Created by God: Built for a Purpose”
What a great line! This was the theme for our Day Camp last week (aka VBS) that saw 130 children here in our building and lots of volunteers who contributed in so many ways…including those who were not here in the building but planned, prayed, baked cookies…and the list goes on.
At my stage of life, I have observed that the simple things are often the deepest things. Jesus said, unless we become as little children, we will not receive the kingdom of God or enter into it. Something about little children, their ability to trust, their sense of awe and wonder, their inquisitiveness are all qualities that those of us who are older need to uncover and cultivate in our walk with Jesus.
This Sunday here at Sunshine Hills Church, we enter the world of our children. We will celebrate with our children and their parents who participated in “Created by God: Built for a Purpose” and join them in exploring a childlike faith and simple but deep message:
• God made you (Psalm 139:14).
• God is for you (Romans 8:31-32)
• God is always with you (Hebrews 13:5)
• God will always love you (Ephesians 2:4-5).
• God built you for a purpose (Philippians 2:13).
As a church, we celebrate the next generation. One of the most important assignments for the church is to make sure the good news of the Gospel is firmly established in the next generation.
We welcome children and parents into our “living room” this Sunday to show them the love of God and the genuineness of our childlike faith…for children of all ages (which includes people of all ages who choose to become like a little child in trusting a loving Father God).
By the way, one of my grandkids excitedly said, “Grandpa, we are going to be ‘upstairs’ and singing and dancing and showing everybody what we learned!”
I am going to show up like a child…how about you?
Pastor Tom
