Sunday July 23 Today… A Unique Creation

Pastor’s Blog July 23, 2017 Today…a Unique Creation
I am living in the light of Psalm 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.” My focus today is, well, today. Many people either live in the past or dream of the future without much thought about today. My premise: we can’t change the past, we don’t know the future: we have today. What will we do with it?
My todays belong to Jesus. To quote the ancient Roman Horace, “Seize the day.” Make the most of the moment without concern or worry about the future. The future is unseen. I have lived long enough to have experienced that what I thought was my future has turned out differently. I have no control over the future but I can to a large degree control the present: today.
Live your todays and trust God with your tomorrows.
That’s what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33-34. Seek first God’s kingdom…the things of eternity…things that will last. Don’t worry about tomorrow; don’t get fixated on what you think tomorrow may bring either good or bad. Taking care of today, doing what Jesus would do (DWJWD) is the best way to impact tomorrow. Worrying will not change anything and in fact can and most often does harm to ourselves and how the future unfolds.
I leave with this very comforting thought: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (read tomorrow). His heart is to bless us and lead us into His green pastures and still waters. He has promised to bless us.
Today is a unique creation. Each day. Every day. Let’s make the most of it.
While it is today….
